Registration Now in Progress for Prairie State College’s Urban Forestry and Landscaping Classes


CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—February 21, 2016. Prairie State College (PSC) is offering four continuing education classes to advance your skills in urban forestry and landscaping. These sessions will be held at the Matteson Area Center, 4821 Southwick Drive, and are geared for professional arborists, urban community foresters, tree care professionals, landscape professionals and master gardeners.

These classes have been approved for Landscape Industry Certified recertification at 1 CEU per hour of instruction attended. For more information on the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) recertification, please visit the NALP Recertification Center at www.landscapeprofessionals.org. Continuing Education Units approved from International Society of Arboriculture.

Landscape Concepts

Explore the variety of landscape components available within the industry. Learn the difference between permanent structures, water features and living elements of plants and trees. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each to make appropriate selections when incorporating them into your landscape concept.

Landscape Plants: Usage and Application

Residential Landscape Design

Design residential and commercial landscapes that create attractive and functional green spaces for your customers. Learn step-by-step methods to establish client goals, produce site drawings, create the job budget, develop the proposal and sell the landscape plan.

Best Management Practices for Community Trees

Gain an understanding of the full spectrum of utilizing trees as part of a professional landscape. In addition, participants will explore ways to advance their careers within the urban forestry profession.
