The 28th Annual Prairie State College Jazz Fest recently was held in the Barnes & Noble College Auditorium on campus. Featured performers included (from left) PSC Professor Valerie Nicholson on piano, Junius Paul on bass, Ernie Adams on drums, Orbert Davis on trumpet, and Ed Petersen on tenor saxophone. The Friday evening performance was part of the annual two-day festival hosted by PSC, which also includes instrumental clinics led by the featured artists. The clinics are for local junior high and high school jazz musicians, and provide an opportunity for students to receive instruction in technique and performance from the jazz masters.
Special guest percussionist Rubén Alvarez (right) joined the jazz masters on stage for several numbers.
