Prairie State College Speech Team Brings Home Several Awards from Tournament

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–December 14, 2015.  The Prairie State College Speech Team placed fifth in the community college division and brought home several individual awards during the recent tournament hosted by Kishwaukee College.

Daniel Blewitt of Crete was named tournament champion in speech to entertain. Patrick Sheard of Dolton received second place in persuasive speech, fifth place in dramatic interpretation and fifth place in prose interpretation. Rachel Brooks of Matteson received fifth place in persuasive speech. Shania Johnson of Park Forest received fourth place in persuasive speaking. Nicholus Johnson of Crete received seventh place in informative speaking.

Also competing was Anfernee Gray of Sauk Village.

After the competition, team members reflected on how much fun they had, said PSC Assistant Professor Joshua Green, who is one of the team coaches. “Afterwards, our new team members mentioned that they had a lot of fun and that ‘Presentation is everything.’”

The team also was coached by PSC Professor Edward Schwarz.
