Prairie State College Nursing Program Ranked in Top 20 RN Programs in Illinois

CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–February 20, 2017.  The Nursing Program at Prairie State College (PSC) recently was named one of the “Best RN Programs in Illinois” by RegisteredNursing.org. PSC’s program took spot 17 of the top 30 that were ranked. There currently are 76 RN programs in the state.

“After analyzing nursing programs in Illinois, we established that Prairie State College not only supports students during their time in the program, but also prepares RN students for a career beyond school,” said Brooke Wallace, founder and managing editor of RegisteredNursing.org. “The strong nursing program prepares students to confidently pass the NCLEX-RN and produces nurses who have the ability to carry out what they learned into the healthcare world.”

According to the RegisteredNursing.org website, the rankings were determined by analyzing NCLEX-RN pass rates, both current and past. Program coordinator and faculty member Patti Eberhardt says that over the past 15 years, PSC’s pass rate has consistently been very high. Most years have been over 90 percent and a few years were 100 percent.

“I want to congratulate the faculty, administrators and students in the Nursing Program at PSC for such a great accomplishment.” said PSC President Dr. Terri L. Winfree. “We just recently celebrated 50 years of nursing on campus. This is such a great way to extend that celebration and continue to show the many successes of the nursing program and its graduates.”

PSC’s Nursing Program is a rigorous academic and professional education program preparing men and women for careers in nursing. Graduates of the program function as a practitioner of nursing in a variety of health care settings, providing and managing direct care through well-defined nursing practices. The program has been granted full accreditation by ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, previously called the NLNAC) through the year 2021.
