Prairie State College Faculty Featured in Art Exhibition ‘Medley’

Prairie State College’s Christopher Art Gallery’s first exhibition of the New Year is titled ‘Medley’ featuring works by the college’s distinguished art faculty. The show, which opened on January 3 will run through Thursday, February 1. An artists’ reception is scheduled from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

The exhibition features works in every media by artists David Gremp (photography) George Kassal  (photography) Gail Otterson (watercolor paintings) Paul Rinaldi (mixed media works, encaustic, paint and wood); Lou Shields (watercolor and ink drawings); Rebecca Slagle (photography on metal); and Valerie Taglieri (oil paintings).

Also featured are works by Christopher Art Gallery Director Beth Shadur, whose handmade books and water-based mixed media paintings will be on display.

“I began doing art when I was very young, learning Japanese brush painting at around 3 years old, “said Beth Shadur. “To feature my works alongside so many exceptionally talented artists is an honor.”

The Christopher Art Gallery, located on the PSC’s main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. The Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. PSC will be closed on Monday, January 15, in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
