Prairie State College (PSC) is participating in the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program, offered in partnership with the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). This initiative offers a guaranteed transfer pathway to several UIC bachelor’s degree programs.

The TAG program gives students an opportunity to take classes at PSC, then transfer to UIC, rather than attend the university as a first-year student. It assures them that they will have a spot at UIC in some of the university’s most competitive degree programs, including architecture, business administration, engineering, liberal arts and sciences, nursing, public health, urban planning and public affairs.

UIC Transfer Assistance Center Associate Director Patricia Francey recently visited PSC to attend the Annual High School Counselors Luncheon and speak with academic advisors and administrators about the many benefits of TAG.

“This program is an excellent way for us to offer students who are doing well here at Prairie State a smooth transition into a four-year degree program at UIC,” said Francey. “It is a great program for students who know what they want to do and where they want to go.”

Eligible students are guaranteed a spot into the degree program of their choosing, as long as it is in one of the participating academic colleges. To enter the TAG program, students must be enrolled at PSC, meet with their academic advisor, sign the TAG participation form and complete the requirements of the TAG program before applying to UIC.

Interested students must sign a participation form at a least one year before they plan to attend UIC. The form allows a dedicated UIC transfer staff member to assist the student and their PSC advisor with admission and transfer counseling to ensure students are taking the necessary classes to get into their desired program at UIC. TAG students will have regular communication from the UIC Transfer Assistance Center that will include a monthly newsletter and other important information about to their transition to UIC. Students also receive invitations to premier UIC events to help them get acclimated to the university’s culture.

“It is a benefit for students to have a guarantee somewhere. Even if they are looking at other schools, it’s nice for them to know that they have a spot at UIC,” said Francey.

For a complete list of participating academic programs, eligibility requirements and application information about the TAG program, visit https://tag.uic.edu/. If you qualify for the TAG program, please fill out the participation form online, print and sign it, and turn it in to the PSC Counseling and Advising department.
