New Art Exhibitions Now on Display at South Suburban College


SOUTH HOLLAND, IL—(ENEWSPF)—March 11, 2014. The Art & Design Department of South Suburban College (SSC) is pleased to present two new exhibitions in celebration of Women’s History Month in March, located in galleries on SSC’s Main Campus in South Holland. 

First, an exhibition of art works by Nicole Northway titled “Wisdom of the Night” is on display in the Dorothea Thiel Gallery through March 28, 2014.  There will be an afternoon reception for Northway on March 19th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and an additional closing reception on the evening of March 28th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Nicole Northway is a Chicago-based artist originally from St. Louis.  She came to Chicago to earn her MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008. In 2011, Northway opened her first Etsy Shop and later opened One Strange Bird, a creative studio in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood that offers art classes to kids and adults, showcases talented artists, and sells indie crafts from around the country.  

Another solo exhibition by artist Robin Dluzen will be on display in the Lee E. Dulgar Gallery through the closing reception at 1:00 p.m. on April 3, 2014.  Dluzen received her MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in Painting and Drawing in 2010.  She also holds a BFA in Painting and Literature from Adrian College, Michigan.  Her work has been exhibited throughout the Midwest and Chicago in numerous solo and group exhibitions.

The public is welcome to visit art exhibitions and receptions at no charge.  The Thiel Gallery is on the 4th floor in the Art & Design hallway, while the Dulgar Gallery is located on the college’s 1st floor.  SSC Galleries are open at minimum Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  The galleries are closed on weekends and holidays.
