Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- eNews Park Forest continues its series featuring Park Forest’s best and brightest students, today introducing James Murphy, a life-long resident of Park Forest. Favorite classes? "Any math class." He enjoys football, which he has played all four years at Rich East. He has been offered scholarships at Concordia University in Chicago and Illinois Wesleyan University in Normal.

Meet James Murphy:

  1. Are you a Park Forest Resident: Yes, for 12 years.
  2. At Rich East all four years: Yes, I have attended Rich East all four years.
  3. Favorite classes: Any math class because I am really great with numbers!
  4. Favorite teachers and/or coaches: My favorite teacher is Mr. Kaufmann (math) because he is brutally honest. My favorite coaches are Coach (Bill) Yarborough and Coach (Barry) Reade because they are helping me immensely with my college choices.
  5. GPA/Class Rank:  3.34/20th of 204
  6. ACT: 26
  7. Areas met on PSAE:  Reading and math.
  8. Activities/Athletics/Clubs:  Football (4 years), Track and Field (4 years), Snowball I and II, National Honor Society.
  9. Clubs, hobbies:  Football, hanging out with my friends, video games.
  10. College choice/Major I have been accepted and have been offered scholarships at both Concordia University in Chicago and Illinois Wesleyan University in Normal. I’m trying to decide which university is the best fit for me. I plan to major in accounting at either university, because, I’m really great with numbers.
  11. Where do you want to be in five years/in ten years: In five years, I plan to be living in my own home. Within 10 years, I want to be well-established and perfecting my career and have a family.
