Meet Amari Parham, Rich East Stellar Student

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)- eNews Park Forest continues with our series of stellar students from Rich East High School. Mr. Kevin Kredens, the school’s publicity liaison, provides each student a series of the same questions. All responses are in the students’ exact words, except for minor editing for content and space when needed.

We are pleased to feature Amari Parham, who has played on the Rocket Basketball, Volleyball and Track and Field teams. She has also been in the Drama Club. Favorite classes include Math, Psychology and English.

In five years, she hopes to be in her first year of medical school.

Meet Amari Parham:

Are you a Park Forest Resident? How long? Yes. I have been a Park Forest for about six or seven years, maybe longer.

At Rich East all four years? Yes. I have attended Rich East High School all four years.

What do you like most about Rich East? I like Rich East because so many teachers and faculty have helped me achieve a lot of goals and have pushed me to do better. If it wasn’t for my coaches, and other faculty, I don’t know if I would be where I am today. They have helped me become a better person and mature in so many ways. I appreciate them for believing in me and pushing me to be the absolute best I can be. So many teachers believed in me and saw my potential.

Activities/Athletics/Clubs participated in?  Special awards? I have played on the Rocket Basketball, Volleyball and Track and Field teams; and have been in the Drama Club.

GPA/Class Rank. My Grade Point Average is 3.380. My Class rank: is currently 18th out of 213.

Favorite classes and why. I like Math, Psychology and English because they require me to so much thinking and I like being challenged as well.

Favorite teachers and why. I like all my teachers; they have believed in me throughout all of the things I do. They have all helped me succeed academically and have pushed me to get ready for college.

ACT: I took the ACT and received a 19.

AP Exams/Scores: I took the AP American Studies English Exam.

College choice? Major? I am still trying to make a decision on college. I am hoping to play basketball and receive a scholarship. I plan on majoring in Pre-Med to become a Pediatrician.

What are you listening to on your iPod these days? I am listen to all kinds of music; Hip-hop, Gospel, Old-School, and many more.

What is the last book you have read? The last book I read was Number One Lady’s Detective Agency, by Alexander McCall Smith.

Favorite TV Shows? My favorite TV shows are “Walking Dead,” “Vampire Diaries,” and Basketball! I watch a lot of other shows. I’m not very picky.

Coffee or Tea, hot or cold? I drink both from time-to-time.

Junk Foods? Pizza, Mickey D’s, Taco Bell? Other? I like chocolate and sour candy. I eat a lot of foods. I love fruit salads and vegetables like spinach and asparagus. I love Beggar’s Pizza, McDonald’s and so many other foods.

Places that you’d most like to visit? I would love to go back to Africa again, and Mexico as well..

Clubs, church, hobbies/volunteering? I am attending Calvary Baptist Church in Chicago.

Where do you want to be in five years? In ten years? In five years, I want to be in my first year of medical school and working hopefully doing intern work at a hospital. In 10 years, I plan to be a doctor with a stable job, a stable home, hopefully to be happily married and have kids. I plan to be a successful woman and achieve all of the goals that I have set for myself.
