Richton Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- "We’re all in and all wet," was the rally cry when all principals and vice principals of the seven Matteson District 162 schools joined Southland College Prep Charter High School administrators to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Homer Thomas, Southland College Prep’s Athletic Director, who emceed the event on the new high school’s entrance circle, took the Challenge from some of the school’s basketball players.
Thomas was among 22 who took the Challenge that included Matteson District 162 Board Member Karen McCray and Richton Park Mayor Rick Reinbold.
Addressing the 500 members of Southland’s student body plus faculty and staff, Dr. Blondean Davis, District 162 Superintendent and Southland’s CEO, said: "This is a wonderful way to celebrate the opening days of the new school year, assist a good cause and have some fun.”
District 162 and Southland College Prep administrators raised $ 5,000 for ALS. Dr. Davis said she would sit for a Challenge herself if "someone will donate $10,000 to ALS."
