Let’s Play Ball!!!

The Park Forest Baseball league is looking forward to Opening Day on Saturday, April 17.  The morning will begin at 8AM as the players and parents gather at the Holiday Star Theater.  After some exciting new announcements that will speak to the future years in Park Forest Baseball, the players will then walk over to the flag pole located on the north side of the Village Hall building.  Once lined up, the parade to Central Park will begin and will be led by Jammer, the always entertaining mascot of the Joliet Jackhammers.

Once at the park, the scheduled speaker for the ceremonies is Dan Pasqua, former member of the Chicago White Sox.  He played with the club from 1988 to 1994, producing the most home runs for the club in 1988 with 20 long balls. In 1989, Dan hit the second-to-last roof shot at the old Comiskey Park and in 1991 hit a home run 484 feet.

After hearing from the representatives of the Village of Park Forest, the fundraiser prizes will be award to the top three sellers of the league.  Some additional prize drawings will be held and then the “First Pitch” of the 2010 season will start the league on their way.

Shortly thereafter the Shetland Division games will begin, which features our 4-6 year olds who play T-Ball.   Games will continue to follow throughout the day.

A special invitation is being made to all players and coaches who have played in Park Forest Baseball since its inception in 1951.  We will be honoring these individuals during the All-Star Games festivities on Sunday, May 23rd.  If you know of anyone who has been a member, please have them contact the league at [email protected] or call Mary Kay Joens at 708-503-1944.

  SEE YOU AT THE PARK!!!
