University Park, IL –(ENEWSPF)—October 8, 2014. The Metropolitan Institute for Leadership in Education at Governors State University is presenting a workshop for educators designed to arm administrators with the research and strategic tools needed to implement academic, social and emotional learning throughout their districts. “Implementing Social and Emotional Learning to Improve Student Growth” will be held on Wednesday, November 5, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in E-Lounge on the GSU campus.
The workshop will be led by Ruth Cross, the Illinois Training Specialist for the Collaborative for Social, Academic, and Emotional Learning. Participants will learn how to address the Illinois standards for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL); understand the research that supports implementing SEL into your district and school practices and policies; understand the structural and strategic supports that improve conditions for learning; and assess the current levels of SEL implementation in your buildings. At the end of this workshop, you will develop a one-year plan outlining next steps to address implementing SEL throughout your district and buildings.
