Congresswoman Duckworth Announces Congressional Robotics STEM Competition

Schaumburg, IL—(ENEWSPF)—August 15, 2014. Last week, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) introduced legislation establishing an Academic Competition in the Field of Robotics Among Students in Congressional Districts throughout the country.

An annual congressionally sponsored competition that promotes students to work on robotics-related projects will encourage more young people to pursue career paths in robotics. The goal of the competition is to foster the next generation of STEM leaders to pursue robotics and help the United States remain a global leader in the field.

“Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education is so important to our young people, our economy and our growing workforce,” Duckworth said. “It is important to get students interested in STEM and robotics early on in life, so that they will be inspired to become the engineers of the future. It is my hope that this competition will increase interest in robotics and all of the ways that the field helps our country succeed.”
