Rep. Scully Looking Forward to Working with Rep.-Elect Al Riley

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Contacted for an interview, State Rep. George Scully (D-80th) said he looked forward to serving with Rep.-Elect Al Riley in the state legislature, "When I found out about the vacancy, the first person that came to mind was Al Riley.  I’ve know Al for over 10 years through his service on the Olympia Fields village board.  I’ve gotten to know him also professionally as an accountant and as a professor at Governors State University.  I think his professional background in business will be an outstanding addition to the General Assembly.  I think he will be the only accountant."

Scully confirmed that he and Riley would work well together, “I have already approached Al to ask him for his help on several projects in the General Assembly.  Within 10 minutes after he got the appointment, I was asking him for help."

Asked why a background in business would be beneficial, Scully replied, “The General Assembly, should be a group of true representatives.  It’s important that all facets of the state of Illinois, all portions of the people of the state of Illinois are represented.  Quite frankly, we have too many lawyers serving in the [state] house of representatives.  We only have one doctor.  We have a good number of former teachers.  We do have a good number of people with a local governing background.  What we do not have enough of is businessmen.”
