The jury found Rod Blagojevich guilty on Count 24 – making false statements during a March 16, 2005 meeting with the FBI. The jury stated that it could not reach a unanimous verdict on the remaining 23 charges which included racketeering, bribery, and conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud.
The government has indicated that they intend to seek a retrial of Blagojevich on some of the charges that the jury could not come to agreement on.
Of interest, Rod Blagojevich was convicted on the same charge as Martha Stewart in her infamous insider trading scandal. This charge carries a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.
