Resident’s Scream Scares Off Midnight Prowler

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— A resident in the 400 block of Winnebago was awakened shortly after 1 a.m. on July 2 by a faint noise just outside her bedroom door. She observed a young man crouched low to the floor.  Police reports say she screamed, and the subject quickly exited the residence using the doorway to the attached garage leading to the outdoors.

The resident did say that she had left the side garage door and inside door into the residence unsecured.  The only items that appeared to be missing was approximately $30.00 in mixed bills from a purse.  There were no signs of forced entry to the residence, according to the report.

Due to poor lighting, she was unable to provide further description of the suspect.

Reached by phone, the resident admitted she was quite startled when she discovered she had an uninvited guest in the middle of the night, “I was very frightened.  Your adrenaline rushes.”  However, she still feels safe at home, “I don’t feel frightened now to where I want to leave.  This appeared to be a teenager or a young adult being stupid.”
