Representative Jan Schakowsky Statement on the 13th Anniversary of September 11th

Washington, D.C. –(ENEWSPF)—September 11, 2014. Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on the Anniversary of September 11th:

“Today, the 13th anniversary of the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001, is a day of reflection and remembrance of the thousands who lost their lives.  Even now, thirteen years later, we grieve with the families who lost their loved ones, we continue to honor the first responders and others who risked (and in many cases, sacrificed) their lives to assist others. We also recognize the continued effort of our brave men and women in uniform fighting for our security and safety here at home and around the world.

Over the last five years, President Barack Obama has worked diligently to protect our country and to dismantle terrorist groups around the world.  Under his stewardship, we were able to track down and eliminate Osama Bin Laden, and we have struck critical blows to terrorists who want to harm Americans.  Challenges remain, but I have the utmost confidence in our President and in the capable and devoted men and women serving in our nation’s intelligence community and armed forces who work so hard to keep our country safe.

We must never forget what occurred on that tragic day, and we must continue to promote peace and freedom wherever we can.”
