Rep. Jan Schakowsky Presents Mt. Prospect’s Apurva Belsare with the Congressional Award

Presenting the Congressional Award to Apurva Belsare of Mt. Prospect, with his parents.

CHICAGO –(ENEWSPF)–August 3, 2015.  The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans.  Award winners have to meet goals in Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness and Expedition or Exploration. Apurva Belsare of Mt. Prospect, Illinois has met and exceeded these goals. Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on Apurva’s great accomplishment:

“I was proud to present Apurva Belsare with the Congressional Award for his outstanding voluntary service. He has been a great benefit to our community. By dedicating more than 100 hours to the Mt. Prospect Public Library, Apurva has made a positive impact on many who come through the library’s doors. He also advanced in his piano skills, meeting the award’s personal development goal and practiced to become a better swimmer, meeting the physical fitness goal. For his expedition, Apurva traveled to our neighbor to the north, Wisconsin, for a camping trip.

So many young people in our community are doing great things, giving us reassurance that the leaders of tomorrow will be able to overcome the challenges our country faces. I am thrilled that Apurva has set a wonderful example and been recognized with the Congressional Award at the national level. I also want to congratulate his parents; his advisor at Prospect High school, Michael Radvansky; and others who have helped Apurva grow into a young man with such great promise. I wish Apurva all the best, he is definitely the type of young leader that our community needs.”
