Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Plan Commission of the Village of Park Forest will conduct a Public Hearing Tuesday, October 7th at 7:00 pm at Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive, to obtain public input on the draft Strategic Plan for Land Use and Economic Development. Village Staff and the planning consultant who assisted with the drafting of the plan will be available from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm to answer questions.
This plan has been drafted over the past two years to establish a comprehensive plan and implementation strategies for the future development and/or redevelopment of several key areas of the community. The plan focuses on the following key areas within the Village.
- DownTown Park Forest , including the DownTown Gateway at Western Avenue and Main Street
- The South Western Avenue Annexation Area
- The Eastgate Neighborhood
- Scattered Residential Infill and Redevelopment Opportunities
- Norwood Square Shopping Center
- The Park Forest Business Park
- Sauk Trail, including the West Gateway (Sauk Trail and Central Park/Blackhawk Street), the East Gateway (Sauk Trail and Western Avenue), and the Corridor between the Gateways
The public is encouraged to attend the Public Hearing on this plan and provide comments to the Plan Commission.
The Plan Commission will use the information gathered at this Public Hearing to formulate a recommendation to the Board of Trustees on the Plan. The Board of Trustees will conduct a Special Rules meeting to address the Strategic Plan for Land Use and Economic Development on Monday, October 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Board Room of Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive.
At this special meeting, the Village Board will hear from the Village’s Plan Commission on recommended priorities for carrying out the Strategic Plan. The Board Workshop will be followed by a Rules Meeting at 8:00 pm, when Board members will discuss the Plan and the Plan Commissions’ recommendations.
The public hearing draft of the Strategic Plan for Land Use and Economic Development is available for review now at the Department of Economic Development and Planning (2nd Floor, Village Hall), the Park Forest Public Library, and at the Village’s web site www.villageofparkforest.com. Feedback forms are also available and you can submit your written comments at any time.
