Editor's Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports.  Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

Be sure to check back later this week for a complete report on the arson/suicide that occurred on Monee Rd. last month.  Police issued a final report.

Park Forest Police answer 23,000 calls a year.  There's no way we're going to be able to report on all of them.

We will always include some introductory comments before the first item.  While everything that follows is a matter of public record, we do not believe it is necessary to have names on page one.

Police responded to a person on January 21 at the Park Forest Police Department reporting a stolen auto.  The vehicle, a white Ford Taurus, Illinois registration 9869843, was entered into LEADS as a stolen vehicle.  Police continue to investigate.

Police responded to a person on January 22 at the Park Forest Police Department reporting a deceptive practice. The alleged victim said that someone had used the victim’s bank card to purchase items without permission.  A purchase was allegedly made in the amount of $785.29 in Ann Arbor, MI.  Police continue to investigate.

Police were called on January 23, to the 0-100 block of North Street to investigate a report of theft of a car stereo from a vehicle’s dash board.  There were no arrests.  Police continue to investigate.

Curtez L. Jackson, 37, 4324 Andover, Richton Park, was arrested on January 23 and charged with one count of “armed habitual criminal” and four counts of “possession of certain dogs prohibited by felon” when police were called to Richton Park.

Herman M. Lipscomb IV, 23, 3380 Matter Ct., Schererville, IN, was arrested in the 3400 block of Western Ave. on January 25 and charged with public elimination of body waste when police observed him “urinating in the grass courtyard,” according to police reports.

Three juveniles were arrested at a school in the 300 block of Sauk Trail and charged with underage possession of tobacco on January 25 when a Park Forest Police Officer was notified by school deans that the three were allegedly smoking in the parking lot by the Westwood entrance.

Police were called to the 400 block of Huron on January 26 to investigate a report of the theft of a motor vehicle.  The automobile, a blue 2002 Lincoln LS, registration 7334671, was reported removed from a driveway without permission.  The vehicle was entered into LEADS.

Two juveniles were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at a school in the 300 block of Sauk Trail on January 26 when police were called to investigate a report of a fight.

Police were called to a business in the 2200 block of Western Ave. on January 26 to investigate a report of motor vehicle theft regarding a truck that was not returned.  Police continue to investigate.

Two juveniles were issued municipal citations for underage consumption of alcohol on January 26 when police were called to a school in the 300 block of Sauk Trail to investigate a report of underage consumption of alcohol on school property.

Brittany T. Oneal, 18, 5158 Arquilla Dr., Richton Park, was arrested on January 26 and charged with battery when police were called to the 100 block of Lester Rd. to investigate a report of someone damaging property.

Joseph M. Haynes, 18, 98 Indianwood, Park Forest, was arrested on January 27 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were called to the 100 block of Indianwood.  A window and screen were allegedly damaged.

Police were called to the 0-100 block of N. Arbor Trails on January 27 to investigate a report of theft.  Two juveniles reported theft of over $100.00.  There were no arrests.  Police continue to investigate.

Police were called to the 400 block of Homan on January 27 to investigate a report of fraud.  The alleged victim reported being contacted by a bank regarding possible fraudulent activity on a credit-debit card.  Police continue to investigate.

Police responded to the 3100 block of Western Ave. in to investigate a report of the theft of a motor vehicle.  The vehicle was found by the owner on January 28 on Wentworth St. in Chicago Heights.  There was no reported damage to the vehicle.

Edward A. Moore, 35, 96 Hemlock, Park Forest, was arrested on January 28 and charged with assault and criminal damage to property when police were called to the 0-100 block of Hemlock to investigate a domestic disturbance report.

Police were called to the 100 block of Forest on January 28 in reference to a telephone harassment complaint.  There were no arrests.  Police are treating this as an informational case report at this time.

Corey D. Love, 25, 329 Sioux, Park Forest, was arrested on January 29 and charged with domestic battery when police were called to the 300 block of Sioux on January 29 to investigate a domestic battery complaint.

Emmanuel Otero Melendez, 22, 3028 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested by Chicago Police officers on January 29 in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Park Forest when Park Forest police responded to the 3000 block of Western to assist Chicago police officers checking for Melendez.  In the same incident, Jose L. Melendez, 20, 3028 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of firearm ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification card.

Police were called to the Park Forest Police Department on January 29 when a resident reported fraud and financial identity theft.  The alleged victim reported that a wireless account had been opened up in the victim’s name in California.  Police continue to investigate.

Police were called to the Park Forest Police Department on January 30 to investigate a resident’s report of credit card fraud regarding alleged an unknown purchase made for $2,392.49 at a store in Calumet City.  The store’s fraud division is handling the investigation.

Police were called to the Park Forest Police Department on January 30 to investigate a missing person report.  A juvenile was reported missing.  Police continue to investigate.

Police were called to the 100 block of Ash St. on January 31 to investigate a domestic disturbance.  The incident involved a vehicle with a deflated tire.  The alleged victim did not desire to pursue charges.  There were no arrests.

Police were called to the 300 block of Main Street to investigate a report of a burglary to an auto.  There was nothing reported missing.  The glove box was reported open and papers were scattered throughout the vehicle.  Police continue to investigate.

A juvenile was issued a municipal citation for truancy on January 31 when police responded to a report of a suspicious person from a business in the 100 block of S. Orchard.

Douglas E. Pickett, 29837 S. Rt. 50, Peotone, was arrested on January 30 and charged with illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor by driver and driving without a valid driver’s license during a traffic stop in the area of Nauvoo and Tomahawk.  In the same incident, Johnye M. Rebb, 34, 482 Shabbona, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor by a passenger, and Antyon M. Grillier, 37, 1242 S. Kolin, Chicago, was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor by a passenger and one count of resisting a peace officer.

Dexter W. Harris, 21, LKA 3244 Western, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft on February 1 when police were called to the 200 block of Victory in reference to a stolen auto.  The vehicle and the alleged suspect were located by the Chicago Police Department in the 10900 block of S. Wabash.

A juvenile was arrested on February 1 at a school in the 300 block of Sauk Trail and charged with theft. A purse was allegedly stolen.

Police were called to the 100 block of Lester on February 1 to investigate a trespass complaint.  Police found a broken window, but were unable to locate any witnesses or offenders.

Demetrius A. Garth, 28, 21806 Peterson, Sauk Village, was arrested on February 1 and charged with aggravated driving with revoked license, during a traffic stop on Sauk Trail when the vehicle Garth was driving was pulled over for no operational rear registration plate light.  Additionally, Garth was issues two Y-ticket citations, no rear registration plate light and operation of uninsured motor vehicle.

D’Angelo D. Henley, 21, 416 Steger Rd. #301, Steger, was arrested on February 2 and charged with felony driving while license suspended, and operation of a motor vehicle with obstructed (tinted/mirrored) front side windows during a traffic stop in the 0-100 block of Westwood Dr.  In addition, Mr. Henley was processed on three outstanding arrest warrants.

Police responded to a call on February 2 in the 400 block of Indianwood in reference to a report of a suspicious person at the back door.  After investigation, a person was taken to the police station for questioning.  Police continue to investigate.

Keith J. Smith, 35, 406 Suwanee, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer when police were called to the 300 block of Blackhawk to investigate a disturbance.

Neftali Ayala, 49, 504 Illinois St., Park Forest, was arrested on February 2 and charged with domestic battery when police were called to the 500 block of Illinois to investigate a domestic battery complaint.
