Police Follow Trail of Car Burglaries, Vandalism


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Police followed a trail of burglaries and vandalism to motor vehicles throughout the night of Wednesday, July 30. Calls started coming into SouthCom dispatch beginning around 4 a.m.

The first call was a report that the front passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Green Street was reported shattered on July 30. Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.

In an incident reported just before 7:00 a.m., four Social Security cards were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the first block of West Rocket Circle on July 30. The cards, which belong to four siblings, were left in the vehicle as the children were going to be registered for school soon.

Also reported around 7:00 a.m. was a report that the passenger side window of the vehicle parked in the 200 block of Green Street had been shattered. The alleged offenders attempted unsuccessfully to remove the vehicle’s in-dash GPS system, a Pioneer AVIC-ZI model, valued at approximately $3,300.

Around 7:30 a.m., police followed up on a report that the passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Green Street had been shattered sometime after 1:30 a.m. The vehicle’s Nesa CD/DVD stereo had been removed from the mounting area and the console surrounding it was damaged.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. police followed up on a report that the passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the first block of West Rocket Circle had been shattered sometime after 2:44 a.m. The rear passenger side opera window was also broken. A cell phone was reported stolen from the vehicle.
