Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Park Forest Police released a statement seeking winter coats and shoes for local teens. According to the statement, police indicate they are in contact with local teenagers, male and female, who are in need of these warmth items.

“We know that budgets get tight around the holidays, but if you find yourself in the position of being able to help out, we’ll accept any donations of these items — new or like-new condition — or monetary donations to go towards these items, at the Park Forest Police Department,” the statement reads.

Regarding sizes, the statement says police will make sure donations of any sizes get to someone who needs them.

“On jackets we most need sizes medium to XL. For shoes sizes 5-9 for women and 8 to 12 for men,” the statement says.

Police emphasize that there is a need within the community.

Winter officially arrives Thursday. Temperatures are expected to plunge to the lows in the teens this weekend, with forecast highs of 21 degrees and 14 degrees Monday and Tuesday of next week. Lows will dip to 5 degrees and 7 degrees respectively, according to weather.com.
