Park Forest Police Report for February 23, 2009


Two tan and powder blue comforters valued at $600, a pressure cooker valued at $250, a crock pot valued at $150, three packs of bed sheets valued at $100 each and $658 cash were reported stolen from a residence in the 23400 block of Western Avenue on February 12.

A juvenile was arrested on February 15 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street to investigate a report of a living room window being shattered.

A juvenile was arrested and charged with theft when an officer was dispatched to Forest Trail Middle School, 215 Wilson Street, to investigate a report of a juvenile allegedly taking an iPod Touch music player valued at $249 from another student.

Michael D. Green, 55, 381 Dogwood St., Park Forest, was arrested on February 14 and charged with battery when police were dispatched to the Park Forest Public Library to investigate a report of a fight in progress.

Kizzie L. Tyms, 26, 563 Andover St., Chicago Heights, was taken into custody by Park Forest Police, who were dispatched to the Chicago Heights Police Department. Tyms had been taken into custody by the C.H.P.D. in reference to a Park Forest warrant.

Police were dispatched to the Park Forest Fire Department on February 13 to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. Officers spoke with an individual whose personal vehicle had been scratched along the length of the driver side of the vehicle by an unknown person or persons.

A red and orange Sears lawnmower valued at $200 was reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Braeburn Drive on February 14.

Corey D. London, 24, 38 N. Albany Ave., #2, Chicago, was arrested on February 14 and charged with one felony count of driving while license was revoked and obstructing justice when detectives noticed the vehicle London was driving had a plastic bag in place of the driver’s side window. London was also processed on a warrant out of Rock Island and issued tickets charging defective front window and unlawful number of passengers.

Hassan H. Boyd, 18, 4213 Applewood Lane, Matteson, was arrested on February 15 and charged with an illegal sound amplification system, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, exceeding the posted speed limit, failure to signal when required, and possession of cannabis when officers on patrol at the intersection of Western Avenue and 26th Street heard music coming from a vehicle that was located northbound on Western Avenue at Court B-3. According to police, the vehicle’s sound amplification system was audible from more than 150 feet away. Police followed the vehicle, which traveled North on Western Avenue at 57 mph, according to police. Police curbed the vehicle on Western Avenue north of Illinois Street.

Jose M. Chavez, 59, 635 Coolidge St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on February 15 and charged with one felony count of driving while license revoked, an expired registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle when an officer on patrol on Western Avenue near 26th Street noticed that the vehicle Chavez was driving had an expired Illinois temporary registration plate, according to police.

A juvenile was arrested on February 16 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Somonauk Street to investigate a report of domestic battery.

Craig Johnson, 44, 40 Monee Rd., Park Forest, was arrested on February 16 and charged with retail theft when police were dispatched to CVS Pharmacy to investigate a report of a retail theft in progress. Johnson allegedly took one 24-ounce can of beer from the store without paying for it, according to police.

Henry R. Boeh, 56, 9 Well Court, Park Forest, was arrested on February 17 and charged with unlawful interference with Public Utility when police received a report from the Park Forest Water Department that water service had been shut off at that address beginning in September 2007 because of an unpaid water bill. According to police, someone had allegedly been turning the water on because the meter was showing additional usage readings, according to police.

Michael V. Mackins, 28, 21770 Carol Ave., Sauk Village, was arrested on February 19 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the first block of Hemlock Street to investigate a complaint of domestic battery.

Anthony D. Muniz, 22, 19813 Park Ave., Lynwood, was arrested on February 20 and issued municipal citations charging no rear brake light, no rear registration light, and possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol traveling northbound on Western Avenue at Algonquin Street noticed that the vehicle Muniz was driving did not have a rear registration light and had only one brake light, according to police.
