Efficiencies in garbage collection free up $9.5 million in resources to be redirected toward tree trimming
CHICAGO--(ENEWSPF)--October 6, 2015. Mayor Rahm Emanuel yesterday announced that the Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) is redirecting 10 crews to the Bureau of Forestry to completely eliminate the backlog in tree trimming requests.
This investment is made possible by $9.5 million in operational savings achieved through grid refuse collection, which reduced the average daily deployment of garbage trucks from 310 to 292.
