This marks the first collaboration between Marist High School and the Chicago Ambulance Alliance to offer such a program. The seniors began the EMT course in October, meeting three times a week from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Throughout the program, they gained hands-on experience and training in emergency and non-emergency care for trauma, medical, and behavioral patients. Students also completed 48 hours of ride time in an ambulance, working alongside certified personnel.

Ellie Fey, one of the students in the program, was named Valedictorian of her class.

Ellie reflected on her experience: “The EMT course was challenging, but an incredible experience. The knowledge I gained about anatomy, physiology, and emergency medicine will certainly help me in the medical field. The instructors were very understanding and offered help every step of the way.”

Marist High School is proud to announce that it will offer the EMT program as a course to Marist seniors in the 2025-26 school year. A Marist instructor will teach the course with the Chicago Ambulance Alliance. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the certification exam. This new program will be part of the students’ regular schedule and span the entire academic year.

This exciting opportunity continues Marist’s commitment to providing real-world, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for careers in various fields, particularly in the medical and emergency services sectors.
