Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Two members of the Park Forest Lions, Allen & Cheryl Warshaw, recently attended the Medfest Special Olympics Opening Eyes at the United Center. The Warshaws volunteered to do pretesting of eyes of the athletes.
Both agreed it was an amazing experience. After the primary testing, athletes were sent to an Optometrist for a more thorough eye exam. If the athletes needed glasses, they were able to take them home with them.
This project was made possible thanks to a partnership with Lens Crafters and Luxotica. Lens Crafters provided the exams and glasses free of charge.
Anyone in our community who needs an eye exam and glasses and has limited income is asked to go to the Nurse at the Park Forest Health Department and fill out an application. This application will be sent to the Park Forest Lions for review. If you qualify, you will be sent a certificate to go to Lens Crafters in Matteson for your free exam and glasses paid for by the Park Forest Lions Club.
THANK YOU to Park Forest and Richton Park residents for their generous donations on Candy Days, Oct 10th and 11th. And THANK YOU to the merchants who allowed us to solicit in front of their stores, banks, post office and library. Thanks to all of you, we reached our goal this year. It will enable us to continue to help those in need in our surrounding communities.
If there is anyone interested in joining the good efforts of the Park Forest Lions to help those in need in Park Forest, Richton Park or University Park, please contact Cheryl Warshaw at 219-322-9082 or email [email protected].
