Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Last week, Park Forest Mayor John Ostenburg announced that a $500,000 federal grant to fund critical Village sanitary sewer and water repairs was included in the 2010 Interior and Environment Appropriations Act recently signed into law by President Barack Obama. The grant was requested by Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr.
“On behalf of all the people of Park Forest, I want to express my sincere thanks for Congressman Jackson’s hard work on behalf of this important project,” said Mayor Ostenburg. “These urgently needed repairs to our infrastructure will help to preserve Park Forest’s well-deserved reputation for quality services and as a great place to live and do business.”
The Environment Protection Agency’s Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Project funding will help the Village repair the functional and structural integrity of its sanitary sewer system, which is approaching its design life. Mayor Ostenburg originally outlined the project to Congressman Jackson, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, during a March 2009 meeting in the congressman’s Washington office. “Congressman Jackson immediately recognized the importance of this project and directed his staff to work with us to identify possible sources of federal funding,” Ostenburg said. “Without Mr. Jackson’s active support, this grant would not have been possible.
