Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Ere the month pass us by completely, enjoy some sights and sounds from July 4, 2016, the day Park Foresters celebrated America.
With style.
There were marching pancakes, marching bands, marching pols, and marching churches.
There was laughter, song, dancing, dribbling, and, most of all, a celebratory spirit that captured the mid-summer joy this town has come to express so well.

The parade launched from the corner of Main Street and Orchard Drive and proceeded north to Westwood Drive, then continued westbound on Westwood Drive to Lakewood Boulevard, making its final turn at Lakewood Boulevard and ending just past Central Park.
There was also the solemn. A police vehicle displayed a proud banner saluting Officer Tim Jones, badge number 204. The young officer, shot and critically wounded March 19, spent his July 4th in rehabilitation, working so hard to recover.
And he works still.
July 4 Festivities Centered on Village Green
After the parade, the celebration of the nation’s birth moved to the Village Green. Vendors sold food. And the band BBI entertained those gathered with a live concert from about 7 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. when fireworks were shot into the sky.
Ground zero for fireworks was Central Park, and they did not disappoint. Visible from the Village Green, the colorful display was on display from many other areas in town as well.
Village officials promised a 15-minute show, but the showing surpassed that.
And the day was a true celebration. Police reported at the subsequent meeting of the Village Board that there were no major issues, no major problems.
The day was #ParkForestStrong, a true, welcome, and warm community event.
