Update August 7, 2012, 11:05 PM: Hildy Kingma reported the following, "We just received word the closure has been extended for at least another day or longer. Again, we appreciate your patience."
Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- As Park Forest’s long-awaited summer of construction is well under way, residents can expect more detours as the work continues.
This week, North Street will be closed at North Orchard Drive.
Director of Economic Development and Planning Hildy Kingma announced Monday that the intersection of North Street and Orchard Drive will be closed to install deep storm sewer work. The intersection will be closed until at least through Wednesday.
This work is expected to take a minimum of two days due to the depth of the storm sewer trench.
Officials say traffic heading east on North Street at Orchard will have to go north on Orchard. A Type III barricade with a sign stating “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” has been placed at the intersection of Western and North. Additionally, Type III barricades will be placed at North and Holly with a sign stating “ROAD CLOSED.”
Westbound traffic will have to use the Orchard Drive south detour via Main Street and Lakewood Blvd. to go west.
