ITC Presents Free Shakespeare This Weekend in Park Forest

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– William Shakespeare has been the world’s most popular dramatist for over four centuries.  The Illinois Theatre Center has been presenting free outdoor performances of his works since 1978.  This year, they will present “Shakespeare’s Scenes, Songs, and Sonnets” for three performances, Friday through Sunday, June 20, 21, & 22 at 7:30 PM, at the Village Green in Downtown Park Forest.

The presentation will feature scenes and monologues from Shakespeare’s most popular plays, including “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, “The Taming of the Shrew”, “Macbeth”, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “Twelfth Night”, “The Tempest’, “As You Like It”, “Henry V”, and “King Lear”.  Interspersed throughout will be songs from Broadway musicals based on the Bard’s works, including “Kiss Me Kate”, “The Boys From Syracuse”, “West Side Story”, and “Hair”.  Illinois Theatre Center director Etel Billig will read a selection of Shakespeare’s most famous sonnets 

Performers include Fred Berg, Randy Larson, Cody Czmyr, Adam Molloy, Colin Kirchner, David Arnold, Jim Grana, Joe Gaudio, Nathan Little, Rachael Russakoff, Mike Padden, Terry Murphy, Frances Syzmanski, Marissa Backlin, Ariel Larson, Diane Berg, Madalyn Mattsey, and Robert Bednar. 

The annual Outdoor Classics presentation is made possible by a grant from the Village of Park Forest, who has sponsored these projects since their inception.  The Village Green is located in the Downtown shopping area, off Main Street.  Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the show will move indoors to the Illinois Theatre Center, located adjacent to the Village Green.  For more information, call (708) 481-3510.
