Chicago, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford has hired Kitty Watson, a Park Forest native and resident, to serve as his deputy chief of staff.

Watson will oversee all of the State Treasury’s programs including those that return unclaimed property, provide financial education, assist with college savings, and create economic opportunity.

Watson says taking this position with Treasurer Rutherford was an easy decision. She explained, “I admire him because he is a dedicated public servant, is incredibly organized, and has the unique ability to gain consensus from both sides of the aisle.”

Watson received her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and her master’s in public administration from Governor’s State University. She has served on the board of directors for the Matteson Area Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, and the Area J Cooperative.

Before joining Treasurer Rutherford’s office, Watson worked at Silver Connections – a referral service for senior care. She also owns her own business as a certified geriatric care manager.
