Village of Park Forest to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–May 26, 2016.The Park Forest American Legion will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30, beginning at 11 a.m.

The program takes place in DownTown Park Forest at the corner of Main Street and Cunningham Drive (just behind Park Forest’s Village Hall) and includes placement of remembrance wreaths in solemn honor of fallen service members, along with recognition of Park Forest veterans, informative details on the proper protocol for folding the American flag, a three-volley rifle salute, and live bugle rendition of “Taps”.

Numerous veterans will be present for this special event, including many from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Residents are encouraged to attend to remember those who have lost their lives while serving the country. Also that afternoon, the Park Forest Veterans Commission will be host a grand reopening of the Veterans Closet — now called the Veterans Closet and Resource Center — in its new location at 351 Founders Way. The grand reopening on Monday will be from 10 AM to 12:30 PM.
