Prairie State College’s Christopher Art Gallery to Host Annual Photographer of the Year and Student Exhibition

CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—UPDATED: August 25, 2016.  Prairie State College’s Christopher Art Gallery will host the Annual Photographer of the Year and Student Exhibition from Monday, August 22 through Thursday, September 15.  An Artists’ Reception will be held on Wednesday, August 31 from noon to 2 p.m.  Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

The Photographer of the Year award is given annually to an outstanding PSC photography student. Kellie Lachata, was chosen by the Photography Club from submitted portfolios.  In addition to being the featured artist in the student show, Lachata also will receive a $1,500 scholarship.

The annual student exhibition also will include works from various classes during the 2015-2016 academic year, and have been chosen by the fine art faculty members. Works include paintings, drawings and three dimensional works.

Additional PSC students who will have their work highlighted during the show include Megan Mullner and Carol Bruns of Beecher; Larry Foster, Jr., Alex Rosales, Miriam Meade, Kennedy Passmore-Whitler and Caitlin Gerritsen of Chicago Heights; Sarah Chapman of Crete; David Woods and Kamaria Whitlow of Flossmoor; Monica Gideon and Kenya Moffett-Garner of Glenwood; Aaron Ferkula, Luke Rhodes and Akilah Petty of Homewood; DiQuan Gilbert and William Billingsley of Matteson; Jacqueline Summerville of Markham; Vanessa Kennedy of Park Forest; Maria G. Forbes and Martell McDaniels of Richton Park; Lawrence Davis III of University Park; and Nicole Brassfield of Lowell, Ind.

The Christopher Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. The gallery will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. Visits also can be made by appointment.
