Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- On Tuesday, August 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Park Forest Police Department hosts the first annual Unity Day in conjunction with National Night Out Against Crime, a community-police awareness-raising event held the first Tuesday in August each year across the country.

The event is free to attend and takes place in downtown Park Forest, behind Village Hall, on the Village Green at the corner of Main Street and Cunningham Drive.

Park Forest Police say the event is a way to thank residents for their partnership in fighting crime in the community, and is also an opportunity to continue to build ties while having a little fun.

Park Forest Police will be joined by several Village boards and commissions for the event who plan to set-up tables with literature and will operate game stations, including a dunk tank and bouncy house, along with a face painting station.

The event coincides with Park Forest’s Main Street Nights, the annual outdoor performing arts series, that is set to feature performances from Miss Jamie’s Farm at 6:30 p.m. and Animal Houze Band featuring Fredi Taylor at 7:30 p.m. also part of the evening’s slate of offerings.
