Park Forest Baseball Colt Season Comes To A Close

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Park Forest Baseball’s Colt team moved on to the Regional level of the Pony National Tournament after winning the Regional level play hosted by Park Forest the week of July 13th at Rich East High School. Their first opponent was Homer Glen. PF scored quickly in their first at bat, but that would be the last time they would have the lead. Throughout the game untimely walks and a few errors contributed to the final score of 13-5, with PF finding themselves on the losing end.

Now in the loser’s bracket, the PF team would need to win their next game to stay alive. However, a strong Evergreen Park had the same situation facing them as well. As the two teams battled, a total of 28 offensive runs were scored. However, the final score was 20-8, with Evergreen Park coming out on top.

The results were, obviously, disappointing to the young men of the PF team. But, upon looking at the big picture, both of the team’s opponents advanced to the Zone level of the tournament. Our players showed a lot of heart during these two games, as they never gave up. They continued to battle back but just couldn’t score enough runs.

The Park Forest Baseball Board of Directors wishes to express their congratulations to this team for a great season. Winning the Sectional title was a huge step for the PF program. The progress shown by this team from last year to this year was very noticeable, as was the team’s determination. They treated their fans to some great games and some very memorable plays. But more important than their team record or their tournament success is the fact that these young men are great representatives of Park Forest Baseball. Several members are umpires in the PF Baseball organization and others volunteer their time to their communities in various ways.

Thanks guys. You made us very proud!!!
