March On’s #WeekendOfWomen is gaining momentum as hundreds of affiliates and other groups across the country have announced plans for the weekend of January 21-22. Anniversary actions have been scheduled not only to celebrate the historic women’s marches of January 2017 but, more importantly, to lay the groundwork for concerted 2018 election activities. March On’s #WeekendOfWomen is the kickoff for its March On The Polls (MOTP) 2018 political initiative, which also features the launch of March On’s Operation Marching Orders: Crowdsourcing Our Agenda. The MOTP website hosts a map and registration links for anniversary actions, which range from rallies and voter registration drives to marches and Operation Marching Orders parties.

“March organizations and communities in almost every state are coming together to mark the anniversary of the January 2017 Women’s Marches as we continue turning that moment into a movement in 2018”, said March On Executive Director Vanessa Wruble. “Women are powering the momentum we need to impact politics and elections this year and beyond. With this #WeekendOfWomen, March On will launch our ‘March On The Polls 2018’ election program, which kicks-off with Operation Marching Orders, our project to use cutting edge civic engagement technology to crowdsource our agenda.”

Operation Marching Orders will kick off on January 20th for a two-week period, leveraging the heightened interest in the anniversary to jump start political action and let the “marchroots” develop our political platform. Using cutting-edge civic engagement technology, OMO will crowdsource the issues the March On community and the broader movement demand as we review the candidates and causes we will fight for in the coming year. With an eye on the 2018 midterms, these issues will guide the March On leadership as they support candidates and causes with the help of the Fight Back PAC war chest.

March On is a new political organization comprised of women-led political activist groups that grew out of the women’s marches of January 21, 2017. They have come together as a united force to take concrete, coordinated actions at the federal, state, and local levels to impact elections and take our country in a better direction. March On was actively involved in the Virginia elections and the Special Election in Alabama through affiliates and strategic partner organizations. March On is not affiliated with Women’s March, Inc.
