Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The League of Women Voters of the Park Forest area begins each new season with a fabulous potluck dinner at the home of Marge Friedman-Scherr who was honored last year for fifty years of membership.
This year we will again meet at Marge’s home (33 Monee Road, Park Forest) Thursday September 9 at 6:30 pm. Our speaker will be Mary Schaafsma who works for the League of Women Voters of Illinois (thanks to a grant from the Joyce Foundation) on the 2010 Census and the issue of redistricting.
Mary will tell us of the importance of citizen cooperation in the census process and how we can help make our hometowns “complete count communities.” Mary will also explain the redistricting process including suggestions for improving it.
The event is open to anyone who is interested in this topic or the League. Each attendee should bring a dish to share.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization which, among other things, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
