Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Janet Fiorenzo, owner of Towers Cleaners, was honored as the first-ever Park Forest Business Person of the Year.

At a reception hosted last Monday by the Village and the Economic Development Advisory Group (EDAG), residents, local business owners and Village Board members, celebrated Ms. Fiorenzo’s business, civic, and charitable contributions to the Park Forest community.

Presenting the award to Mrs. Fiorenzo, EDAG Chair Sam Montello, spoke of her fourteen years in the Village, and how she relocated to the downtown area two years ago. That move has proven to be a success.

In addition to maintaining a successful business, Ms. Fiorenzo to serves the community as an individual and supports charitable activities. She participates in Park Forest Youth Day and Safe Halloween activities, prepares and distributes Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to the needy, and provide seasonal jobs for returning college students.

Speaking of her charitable activities, Montello said, “On November 14th, Ms. Fiorenzo was seen in Carson’s standing for three hours, and sold forty-five books in support of a charitable organization.”

“It is an honor and privilege to receive this award” stated Fiorenzo. “I work hard and am there all the time. But that’s what you got to do if you want to be a successful business,” she said. Fiorenzo stated that she was overwhelmed with the many calls and visits to the cleaners. “This is way I am here. Park Forest, you are the greatest,” she said.

EDAG reviewed five nominations for selection and choose Ms. Fiorenzo for all of her efforts. “She could have left Park Forest two years ago, but she stayed and her business has grown because of it” said P.C. Smith, of EDAG.

Montella congratulated other nominees: Mike Jordan owner, of State Farm Insurance; Kathy Shears, Owner of Design to Go Florist; Alice Davis Co-Owner Quality Classic Health and Fitness; and Janet Muchnik, President of Tall Grass Arts Association, for their nomination and service to the Park Forest community.

The Economic Development Advisory Commission meets every first Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall. Meetings are open to the public. For more information about EDAG, or any of Park Forest boards and commissions, visit the Village of Park Forest’s Web site at www.villageofparkforest.com.
