Harbor Light Hospice Needs Volunteers

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—October 25, 2011.  Harbor Light Hospice is a philosophy of care that assists patients, family, and friends, during the final stages of a terminal illness. Harbor Light Hospice promotes dignity and emphasizes quality of life for those who choose to die in familiar surroundings with those they love.

Volunteering with Harbor Light Hospice is just like being a “good neighbor.” If one of your neighbors was ill you would go visit for a while every so often. You might just sit and talk, or you might play cards, or watch TV, or discuss the day’s current events. That’s exactly what it is like to be a hospice volunteer.

Volunteers are an essential part of the team caring for the hospice patients and their families. Volunteers are trained based on their interests and experiences, and once trained, they can choose the areas in which they wish to participate.

Harbor Light Hospice is in need of volunteers to visit patients in the south suburban areas of Beecher, Homewood, Chicago Heights and the surrounding areas.  Volunteers will be trained and supervised and can visit hospice patients in their free time.

If you are interested in volunteering, please call Linda Daniels, Volunteer Coordinator at 630-942-9199.
