FRANKFORT—(ENEWSPF)—August 28, 2017. The Sauk-Calumet Sierra Club Group will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, September 11th, at 7:15 p.m. at the Frankfort Public Library, 21119 Pfeiffer Rd.
The program will be a new documentary on the problem of invasive species in the Great Lakes. The documentary, “Making Waves: Battle for the Great Lakes” will take viewers below the surface of the world’s largest freshwater ecosystem and into the middle of a complex war for survival. Narrated by Bill Kurtis, “Making Waves” joins researchers on the front lines as they combat invasive species and work to restore native species in an effort to prevent a biological takeover of the Great Lakes. The film’s producers, Brendan and Jessica Walsh, will be on hand to answer questions about the film and about the Great Lakes.
Sierra Club meetings are free and open to the public. People interested in outdoor activities and protecting the environment are encouraged to attend. For more information about the Club and its activities, contact Patrick Coffey at [email protected].
