Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–April 25, 2011.  Folks on Spokes Bicycle Club will host the 30th Annual Easter Ride from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 1,  Riders will depart from this year’s new starting locatation at Park Forest Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive.

Since 1982 the Easter Ride has continually grown in popularity. It was listed as the Best Biking in America in Bicycling Magazine’s April 1999 issue, and it has just gotten better each year. Drawing hundreds of riders each year, the ride is large enough to seem professionally run, yet small enough to really enjoy. Every year, the ride gets better and this year will be no exception.

The success of this invitational ride enables the Club to make generous donations to the League of American Bicyclists, League of Illinois Bicyclists, Active Transportation Alliance, and the Indiana Bicycle Coalition.

Riders can pick one of five routes through pastoral farmlands, wildflower filled woods, and friendly towns. Each route, 18, 26, 36, 50, and 62 miles (actual route availability and mileage may vary) follows lightly traveled paved roads, and is fully marked.

Rest stops along the route will provide riders with fruit, drinks, sandwiches (including Easter egg salad sandwiches), and homemade cookies.  Some of the rest stops will also have live musical entertainment.

Fees are $20 for adults and $5 for children 12 or under.  Helmets are required.

Your fee entitles you to a map of your route, access to all rest stops, SAG support, and parking.  Please plan to pick up your rider packets at Village Hall no later than 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event.
