Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—December 1, 2016.  Please join The League of Women Voters – Park Forest Area on Saturday, December 17th at 10:30 a.m. at the Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard, for the monthly meeting.  The speaker, Janice Goldberg, Co-Chair of the Cook County League of Women Voters Criminal Justice Interest Group, will discuss the finding of the CCLWV’s study of the Cook County Criminal Justice System.

The Criminal Justice group was initiated after a 2014 report from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, which focused on the inequities of the pre-trial system.  Ms. Goldberg will discuss the group’s findings, recommendations for improvements and their commitment for the future. They plan to follow up with observations and interviews to monitor progress on the study’s recommendations.

A native of West Rogers Park in Chicago, Jan Goldberg attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she majored in Teaching of Secondary Social Studies.  She earned a Master’s Degree in Urban Studies at Northeastern University.  She has been involved with the League of Women Voters since the 1990’s, becoming more actively involved since retirement and was nominated by her local League to act as liaison to the Cook County League Board.

We hope that you will join us for this meeting, which promises to be informative. This presentation will close out the fall series of topics that reflect our ongoing commitment to quality of life issues and that inform others of our mission of educating and advocacy.
