Center for American Progress’ TalkPoverty to Launch New Radio Miniseries on SiriusXM Insight

Washington, D.C. —(ENEWSPF)–January 6, 2015.  Today, TalkPoverty.org—a project of the Half in Ten Education Fund at the Center for American Progress—announced that it will launch a new radio miniseries focused on building a more just economic movement and providing practical, immediate solutions that address poverty in the United States.

TalkPoverty Radio will premiere on Saturday, January 17, and will air on Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. EST on SiriusXM Insight Channel 121 through February 21. The miniseries will feature policy experts, advocates, journalists, elected officials, policymakers, and people struggling to make ends meet and will take a fresh look at the issue of poverty and the growing movement fighting to dramatically reduce it.

“With 45 million Americans living in poverty, and inequality at historic heights, Americans are increasingly aware that our economy is not working for everyone,” said Greg Kaufmann, Editor of TalkPoverty.org and Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress.  “TalkPoverty Radio will provide a unique opportunity to elevate the conversation around poverty in America, dispel stereotypes and myths, and educate listeners through real stories and diverse perspectives.”

The show is part of SiriusXM’s new channel, SiriusXM Insight, a “groundbreaking news, information, and entertainment radio channel offering listeners inspiring ideas and intelligent conversation with an edge.” TalkPoverty Radio will be co-hosted by the Center for American Progress’ Rebecca Vallas, Associate Director of the Poverty to Prosperity Program, and Tracey Ross, Senior Policy Analyst with the Poverty to Prosperity Program.

Listeners without a SiriusXM subscription can sign up for a four week free trial here.

TalkPoverty.org is an online hub dedicated to providing in-depth analysis and educational resources about poverty in America and what we can do at the local, state, and federal levels to dramatically reduce it. Launched in May 2014, TalkPoverty.org is also home to a cutting-edge blog that highlights the vibrant voices of the anti-poverty community—people living in poverty and working to reduce poverty every day.
