Holiday Tree Lighting in Downtown Park Forest

Remember this backdrop for holiday cheer some years back? We promise a more recent and cheerful photo this year. This is from January 2011 when a certain building in the Downtown was seeing its final days. (Photo: Gary Kopycinski)

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- ‘Tis almost the season.

Park Forest’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting takes place on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at Dining on the Green, 349 Main Street.

This free community event includes crafts and refreshments for kids followed by the lighting of the holiday trees at 6:30.

This is a family event and your whole family is welcome. In fact, there is a high probability of cheeriness during these festivities within and without. Dining on the Green is particularly warm for this event regardless of the weather outside.

And it’s time to get crafty. Organizations interested in sponsoring and decorating one of 14 trees should call the Village Manager’s Office at 708-283-5605.

This is a great time to reflect on our roots on these eves when the sun sets early as we anticipate the brighter days ahead.

Come be the sparkle others need to see shine.
