Health Care Reform

National Seniors’ Advocate Applauds Health Reform Vote in the House

Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–November 7, 2009.  “It’s impossible to exaggerate the importance of today’s health care reform vote for America’s seniors – it was historic.  Closing the Part D doughnut hole, allowing government negotiation of drug prices in Part D and eliminating billions of dollars of wasteful subsidies to private insurers in Medicare are just a few of the vital reforms benefiting seniors included in the House’s health care legislation. The status quo is not an option for seniors in Medicare.  System wide health care reform such as what passed in the House today is vital for the program’s future.

The National Committee and it’s millions of members and supporters offer our thanks to the House for supporting health care reform which would manage costs, attack waste, and make important improvements to Medicare.  We look forward to working with members of the Senate to ensure these reforms remain in any final health care reform legislation”…Barbara B. Kennelly, President/CEO, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.
