Silver Spring, MD–(ENEWSPF)–November 7, 2009. The American Nurses Association (ANA) applauds House lawmakers for passing H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act. This landmark legislation was approved by a vote of 220-215 in a Saturday session. ANA has been a tireless advocate for meaningful health care reform which recognizes the vital role of nurses, creates a system that is responsive to the needs of all consumers, and provides equal access to safe, high-quality cost-effective care for all.
“Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, or an Independent, there is one thing that we all can agree on; as nurses, we only want the very best for our profession and for the patients that we serve. Though this is a momentous day for those of us committed to making health care reform a reality, there is still a lot of work ahead. On behalf of the nation’s 2.9 million nurses, I urge the Senate to consider this legislation and bring it to a vote before the end of the year,” said ANA President Rebecca M. Patton, MSN, RN, CNOR.
