Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, D-Chicago Heights, released the following statement announcing his re-election campaign for State Representative of the 80th District. eNews Park Forest is printing his statement in full.
“I’m announcing my decision to seek re-election as Illinois State Representative of the 80th District. I’m honored and thankful to my constituents for the opportunity to serve in the Illinois House the past 10 1/2 years. I’m grateful and appreciative for the chance to advocate on your behalf. In my next term, I will continue to be a strong voice for property tax relief and will vigorously pursue my vision for economic growth and prosperity in our region.
“Serving as the Chairman of the House Cities & Villages Committee has been crucial to the south suburbs and for units of local government across Illinois. Working closely with local elected officials, we must further improve the quality of life and deal with a range of issues impacting taxpayers. I look forward to continuing our work together.
“Therefore, after much deliberation, I will not be seeking the 40th District Senate seat soon to be vacated by my dear friend, Toi Hutchinson. I’m far better positioned to remain in the House where I’m able to serve my constituents and the south suburbs with greater ability because I maintain my committee chairmanship and my seniority. It’s been a pleasure working with Senator Hutchinson and I wish her and her successor the very best. As I campaign for re-election, I graciously ask for your help and support. I will always be accessible and my office will continue to provide professional and responsive constituent services. Thank you and best regards.”
