Decoding a Gay Guy’s Dating Profile

So now you have the PERFECT profile on a reputable dating site. One of the great features these sites have, is the ability to match you’re profile features to potential members who may meet your requirements.

Add the human touch! Don’t let a computer do all the matching. I recently spent time researching gay guy’s profiles on various sites and what I noticed was a pattern of "red flags," that are essential for the serious relationship minded gay guy to notice when reviewing them.

In my last Tip Sheet, I mentioned the next sheet would include helpful tips for when you are ready to actually meet your online match for the first time, but before I travel that route, I want to provide you with some vital steps that will help you notice potential red flags in an online dating profile. It’s easy if you know what to look for.

Ask yourself:

Do looks take precedence over content?

What’s important to you when reviewing a profile?

Do you just look at his stats and ignore the meat of his profile?

If you are repeating the same frustrating dating choices while expecting different results, it is in your best interest to create some major change in how you approach online dating. While each reviewer is different and has their own unique way of doing things, be mindful whether these questions are in alignment with your core values.

Here are 7 vital steps that will help guide you through the reviewing process of a dating profile.

  1. Did he include a photo?
  2. Does he mention some of his core values?
  3. Does he mention the recent end of a long-term relationship?
  4. Does he mention sex a lot in their profile?
  5. Do his words spark curiosity?
  6. Does his profile excite you to want to meet him?
  7. Does he sound sincere or desperate?

Be SMART, but make it fun. Play detective when reviewing dating profiles. When it comes to matters of the heart, this process must be part of your "best practices" for online dating. This is your chance to be the chooser!

Remember, being single isn’t a curse, it’s an OPPORTUNITY!
