Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–August 1, 2016. Combat Veteran and Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08) today issued the following statement regarding the administration’s announcement that homelessness among Veterans has fallen nearly 50% since 2010:
“Since I recovered at Walter Reed, I’ve made serving other Veterans my mission whether in Illinois, at the VA or in Congress. Having helped lead the initiative to end homelessness among Veterans while at the VA, I am particularly proud of the progress the President announced today. I have long said we are all dishonored when our Veterans have to lay their heads down to sleep on the same streets they defended. This is an important milestone, but it is not the finish line. I remain committed to finishing the job and achieving our goal of completely eliminating Veteran homelessness.”
