Congresswoman Robin Kelly Helps Acquire $36 Million in Grant Aid for Schools, Health Services, Police and Fire Protection

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–December 22, 2015.  Congresswoman Robin Kelly announced today that more than $36 million in federal grants were awarded in 2015 to municipalities, public safety departments, health and housing agencies and schools within the 2nd Congressional District.

The 43 grants provided funding for a variety of community needs, including acquiring critical equipment and training for local firefighters, expanding health and housing services, making street and sewer improvements, and supporting education in the STEM fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

“These grant funds have a direct and positive impact on constituents. When put to use, they mean better roads, safer communities, and targeted STEM programs that will help our young people find in-demand jobs,” Kelly said. “We expect many more grant opportunities in the upcoming year. I look forward to notifying and supporting schools, communities and agencies seeking to fund programs and services that benefit our neighborhoods.”

A total of more than $50 million in grants have been awarded throughout the 2nd District since Rep. Kelly took office in 2013. For more information about grant opportunities, visit Rep. Kelly’s website at www.robinkelly.house.gov and search under the category of “Resources.”
